Farhan Siddiqi, the imam of Washington D.C. area mosque Dar Al-Hijrah said in an October 13, 2023 Friday sermon titled "From the River to the Sea," that claims that Hamas raped women and beheaded babies are lies. He added that current reaction to the Muslim community in the U.S. is reminiscent of the period following the 9/11 attacks, when there was a crackdown on the Muslim community, when Muslims were called terrorists, and members of the Dar Al-Hijrah Islamic Center were imprisoned "unjustly" for terrorist charges, and some of them are still serving time for this today. Siddiqi said that this happened: "Because we didn't agree with the narrative, and we said that Muslims were just." He continued to say that when the Muslims are "being pushed and being cornered that means that Allah's victory is near."
Dar Al-Hijrah Islamic Center is linked to former Al-Qaeda leader Anwar Al-Awlaki, to some of the 9/11 terrorists, to Fort Hood shooter Nidal Hasan, and to other known jihadis. For more on Dar Al-Hijra, see MEMRI TV 8283, 7426, 6043, 5989, and Special Dispatch 8725.
Farhan Siddiqi: "The hypocrisy is sickening. It's disgusting. And the first question we are asked is why do you not condemn the attacks? Why do you not condemn Hamas? I don't know what Hamas is doing. I'm shown video clips and then I'm also told that they're beheading babies. I'm also told that they're raping women. I'm also told, then I'm also told, then I'm also told, and when I go and I investigate those specific reports I find out they're all lies.

"Many of us who are sitting here remember after 9/11. The stops that we received at the airport... members of this community, unfortunately, who were jailed unjustly, some of them still sitting in jail. Funds were frozen... Laptops, computers taken... Raids were happening. This is not the first time we were called terrorists. And why was it then? Because we didn't agree with the narrative and we said that Muslims are just.

"I swear by Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala that that is what I feel now. That we are being pushed and being cornered. All that means is that Allah's victory is near. We ask Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala to aid our brothers and sisters in Gaza. We ask Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala to preserve their wealth, to preserve their lives, to preserve their honor. We ask Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala to push away and to deflect this oppressive Israeli government."
