Following are excerpts from an address by Egyptian opposition leader Mohamed ElBaradei, former director-general of the IAEA, delivered at Cairo's Tahrir Square. The address aired on Al-Jazeera TV on January 30, 2011.
Mohamed ElBaradei: [I have come here] to be with you on the happiest day in the lives of the Egyptians. Today, I look into the eyes of each and every one of you, and each of us has undergone a change today. You are Egyptians, who demand their rights, their lives, and their freedom. What we have started can never be taken back. As we've said, we have one main demand: The regime must go, and a new phase must begin.
