Yemeni MP Muhammad Al-Hazmi Presents Hamas Prime Minister Ismail Haniya with His Dagger

#2674 | 04:25
Source: Al-Aqsa TV (Hamas/Gaza)

Following are excerpts from a TV report on Yemeni MP Muhammad AL-Hazmi presenting his dagger to Ismail Haniya. The report aired on Al-Aqsa TV on October 22, 2010.

Announcer; A short while ago, one of our brothers told me about something that happened on board the Marmara. As you well know, Yemen is present today in our hearts and on our land. As you well know, the dagger that our people in Yemen call the jambiya is a symbol of Arab honor for the Muslims. He told me that one of the Yemeni brothers on board the Marmara refused to hand over his jambiya to the occupation forces, when they raided the Marmara. He wounded two soldiers before the jambiya was taken from him by force.

We salute the people of Yemen.

This was an introduction to the speech by MP Muhammad Al-Hazmi, who represents the Yemeni delegation.

Muhammad Al-Hazmi: First, with your permission, I won't turn my back to commander Isamil [Haniya].

Praise be to Allah, who has brought us to Gaza, the land of the blessed Jihad, against the will of Stinkiyahu and his minister Barak.

Dear brothers, we have come to you from Yemen, the land of Jihad, leaving behind millions of Yemenis, who yearn to come and wage Jihad. Let me tell you, there may not be political agreement on many things in Yemen, but all are united behind the cause of Palestine – in the path of the resistance, not the compromise. The leadership, the government, and the people are all united in this.

Dear brothers, I don't want to take up too much of your time. I was with my dear brothers on board the Freedom Flotilla... I was wearing the Yemeni jambiya. By Allah, the only reason I brought it along was to award it to Ismail Haniya. But the Zionist enemy took it from me. So when I returned to Yemen, I said to the people of Yemen that now I have two causes: the Palestinian cause and the cause of the Yemeni jambiya.

I brought another jambiya with me today, so allow me to present it on behalf of the Yemeni people, because it is a symbol of our Yemeni people. Allow me to take it off, and hand it over to my brother Ismail Haniya. In the name of the Yemeni people, I hope he will accept it.

Man in audience: Say: "Allah Akbar."

Audience: Allah Akbar.

Announcer: I told you about one of the Yemeni brothers. Our friend here is the one who confronted the enemy, and today he brings this jambiya, in order to proclaim the honor of Yemen, which will never be vanquished, Allah willing.
