On July 8, 2022, IRINN TV (Iran) aired footage of a Disavowal of Polytheists ceremony performed by Hajj pilgrims in Mecca. During the ceremony, Iranian pilgrims chanted: "Death to America! Death to Israel!" Abdolfattah Navvab, Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei's Representative for Hajj Affairs, said that it is impossible for one to claim belief in God while simultaneously befriending Israel and America.
