Lebanese researcher Riyadh Eid said in a March 24, 2020 discussion on Al-Jazeera Network (Qatar) that the coronavirus pandemic has caused the collapse of the U.S. and global economies and of the American Dream and American value system. He also said that China has been offering aid to certain countries during this pandemic and that the world is seeing the rise of a new "Chinese-Eurasian value system" that encourages helping humanity. He added: "I do not think it is far-fetched to say that President Trump will be forced to ask for aid from China." Riyadh Eid: "On Monday, when the stock market opened with sharp declines, the U.S. injected $1.5 trillion, yet it couldn't contain the stock market crash for longer than 10 minutes. For your information, the U.S. has impoverished the world. The global economy is undergoing huge crashes. According to all the economic reports, we cannot expect the recovery of the global economy anytime soon. [This will happen] only when we are sure that the world has succeeded in taking control of the coronavirus and in stopping the mass deaths that these countries have been stricken with. This is why I say that the American Dream has collapsed, and we are now witnessing the rise of a new Chinese-Eurasian Dream. The U.S. has withdrawn from Europe and cut its aid to Europe. China has come and given aid to Italy, Spain, Hungary, and Iran. I do not think it is far-fetched to say that President Trump will be forced to ask for aid from China in order to save America. This is why I say that the U.S. – with its protective measures – has fallen from the world's throne and from the world of civilized humanity. This is why I say that the American Dream and American values have collapsed. The coronavirus has brought about the collapse of the entire value system.
