Iraqi Sports Commentator Lashes Out at Algerians for Affronting Iraq during Soccer Match: Despicable Dogs with Shoe for a Brain

Iraqi sports commentators Qahtan Al-Maliki hurled insults at Algerian soccer fans for chanting anti-Shiite and pro-Saddam Hussein slogans during a September 9 soccer game between the visiting Iraqi Air Force club and the Algerian USMA home team. The Iraqi team left the field in protest before the end of the game. Al-Maliki said that the Algerians are despicable dogs who have nothing to do with humankind. He criticized them of naming people after Yazid Ibn Mu'awiya, who he said was the friend of apes and pigs (the Jews). Al-Maliki added that an Algerian sports commentator who tweeted about the game has "a shoe for a brain," and said that an Algerian actress made statements "that can only be made by a whore." The Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs had summoned Algeria's ambassador after the game because of the chants. Al-Maliki's show aired on Al-Masar TV (Iraq) on September 10, 2018.

Following are excerpts:

Qahtan Al-Maliki: We have a special show today, in which we will show you the rude chants, the explicit baseness, and the blatant attacks on the part of the Algerian fans – more than 20,000 spectators. Yesterday, they all as one affronted Iraq, which is the crown on their head and on the head of whoever begot them. They have affronted Iraq and today, I will pay them back twofold.

[…]

"Allah Akbar, Saddam Hussein!" and "Ja'afaris [Shiites] out!" These were the chants of the base, stupid, and rude [Algerian] crowd – a bunch of people who have nothing to do with humankind.

[…]

They did not hesitate to chant: "The Shiites are dogs." I apologize for using this language, but [these are the words of] those despicable dogs. If we had a real government, the Algerian embassy would not have remained in Iraq – not even for a moment.

[…]

Back in the 60s and 70s, we used to send you teachers to teach you Arabic, oh Algerians. It was Iraq that got you into the League of Nations. Iraq got you there. Iraq is the crown on your head.

[…]

Iraq will remain the crown on your head despite all your car bombs and the thousands of suicide bombers you've sent us. What have we gained from this Pan-Arabism of yours? Nothing but suicide bombers, explosions, discord, and killing.

[…]

"The Shiites killed [Imam] Hussein, the Shiites killed Saddam Hussein." Is it clear enough for all those who try to justify these [Algerians]? Did the Shiites kill Hussein? You [Algerians] in the stadium are proud to name someone "Yazid," after the accursed Yazid [ibn Mu'awiyah], the friend of the apes and pigs [Jews].

[…]

These are the ethics of barbarians, the ethics of savages, the ethics of the despicable, the ethics of heretics, the ethics of those who look human but are, in fact, apes and pigs. These are foundlings. You brought up Saddam Hussein. Do you want us to bring up Napoleon Bonaparte? Should we celebrate Napoleon, who slew you?

[…]

[They chanted:] "Oh, Bu Mourdis, oh Saddam, the Shiites are the enemies of Islam." Bu Mourdis was a terrorist who blew himself up in Baiji. He was an Algerian terrorist who blew himself up in Baiji, in an attack against the Iraq Army and the PMU. This is who they are proud of.

[…]

Do you know what the Algerian media said? Let's have a look. Do you think that they apologized? Let's see what they had to say. This is Khaireddine Rouba, an Algerian journalist who works for the Al-Kass channel. He says: "Those who demand that Algeria apologize to Iraq should first demand that American apologize for the destruction it has brought upon that sister country [Iraq] – all the killing, expulsion, rape, looting, and the erasing of its history and identity, instead of demanding an apology from a group of fans, who chanted the name of a former Arab leader whom we all loved and still do. The only traitors are those who rejoiced upon his death."

[…]

You are a man with a dead conscience. You are a man who has a shoe for a brain.

[…]

The Algerian actress Ania said: "Saddam Hussein – a Pan-Arab hero or a criminal? What's certain is that years after his death he still lives in our midst." He lives in your midst because you are accustomed to humiliation. This kind of statement can only be made by a whore. Am I making myself clear?
