Iranian Defense Minister General Amir Hatami said in an August 18, 2020 interview on IRINNN TV (Iran) that Iran's missile capabilities are an important part of its defense doctrine. He said that Iran's missiles can penetrate its enemies' air defense systems and that Iran is closely monitoring the enemy's attempts neutralize Iran's missile capabilities. In addition, General Hatami said that Iran is willing to provide weapons and equipment to countries that "need it." He added that Iran would respond powerfully to any attack.

Amir Hatami: "Our missiles are a very important component of our strategic defense, and we want to prevent war. Our approach is active deterrence.

[...]

"They [killed] our dear martyr [Qasem] Soleimani, so we toppled Ayn Al-Assad Airbase on their heads. They themselves said that many soldiers suffered concussions [from the attack].

[...]

"This power belongs to the Iranian people. As long as we require defense, this capability will remain up to date, and this is what will happen. We can also understand why our enemy is being so sensitive regarding [our] missile capabilities. They want to take this power away from the Islamic Republic and our dear people, because they do not want us to be able to react to their actions.

[...]

"We are closely monitoring the enemy and explaining how they want to decrease or neutralize the effect of our missile capabilities. As you know, they are making certain efforts and bringing various systems into the region.

[...]

"Our missiles can penetrate the enemy's air defense systems, and we will maintain this capability until the end.

[...]

"We have made it known that we are ready to provide high-quality and appropriately-priced weapons and equipment to countries that need this.

[...]

"With the removal of the arms embargo, how capable are we of exporting [weapons]?

[...]

"As per [UNSC] Resolution 2231, there is a five-year limitation regarding a few main items. Of course, we did not want this, and it is unjust, but this is still the [reality]. This limitation does not apply to most of our products, and we are exporting [these products].

[...]

"Right now, I believe that nobody would dare attack us. But if this were to happen, [the attackers] would face such firepower that would make them clearly understand what I am saying now. By the grace of God, we currently have the ability to destroy any house around us from which a conspiracy is carried out against us. If any warship were to fire at us, we would sink it and react forcefully."
