Friday Sermon on UAE TV: Whoever Justifies Terror Attacks or Sympathizes with Them Is an Accomplice

Source: UAE TV

The following are excerpts from a Friday sermon in the UAE by Sheik Mubarak Lamhiri, which aired on UAE TV on July 29, 2005.

Lamhiri: Dear brothers, this ongoing series of crimes and incidents, which are shaking the Islamic nation - whether directed at Muslims or non-Muslims - are harmful to this great nation, and to Islam and Muslims in the East and West, in Muslim and non-Muslim countries alike.

[...]

Dear brothers, our disaster is not caused by people of other religions. This matter is clear, dear brothers. Our disaster is caused by people of our own religion, who commit acts that distort the image of Islam and cause it to be hated. By Allah, if a Muslim preaches to a non-Muslim and talks to him about the tolerance of Islam, what will the latter tell him? The non-Muslim will say: "We watch on TV day and night what Muslims do." This is distorting the image of Islam. By Allah, whoever contemplates the image of Islam today finds no reason to join it.

[...]

Dear brothers, what happened in Sharm Al-Sheik, and even what happened in Western countries, in London, harms Islam. It harms the pure image of Islam. How odd it is that those who call upon others to support Islam are harming Islamic and distorting its pure image. Dear brothers, these people belong to the enemies of Islam. People who distort the Image of Islam belong to the enemies, who tarnish the good name of this religion with every bad deed. What saddens me, dear brothers, is that among us Muslims there are people who raise doubts. They say: "No, no. They did not do this." There are Muslims who say such things. How is this possible, while they boast and compete among themselves in issuing communiques attributing these crimes to themselves? Praise Allah, there are many...

Is there a criminal who says: "I am a criminal"? Have you ever heard of a thief who says: "I am a thief"? The criminals of these times are indeed strange - they kill innocent people and boast about their killings on TV, as you all can see. And what is their pretext? The victory of Islam. By Allah, Islam will not be victorious through such barbaric and abhorrent actions, which harm Islam.

[...]

One of them was driving a fuel truck, which he rigged with explosives, and then he blew it up among innocent people - innocent people who are not involved. And what was his pretext? He wanted to get to Paradise. He wanted to hug the black-eyed virgins. Is this how we reach Paradise? Is this how a Muslim gets to hug the black-eyed virgins - by killing people and spilling blood? What about Allah's wrath over such actions? What about the religious rulings that forbid such barbaric actions?

[...]

Dear brothers, whoever justifies such actions, wherever they are committed, is an accomplice. Whoever permits them and sympathizes with them - such a person, dear brothers, is an accomplice.
