The following are excerpts from an interview with Dr. Munsif Al-Marzuqi, a civil rights activist in France, which aired on Al-Jazeera TV on August 30, 2005
Marzuqi: Any reform must first identify the flaw. Second, it must address the flaw itself and not beat around the bush. Then all the necessary steps should be taken to remove this flaw. None of this exists in the (Arab) regimes that talk about reform. They tell you: "No, we want to continue..."
Imagine a car. Someone comes to you and says: "I will wipe the dust off it, and wash it in clean water, and, Allah willing, I'll paint it a nice shade of blue, and, Allah willing, I'll change its upholstery". Well, my friend – this is not the issue. The thing is that this car - its engine does not work, its engine consumes an alarming amount of oil, it smells of gasoline, and sparks fly from it. You drive this car four meters, and it comes to a halt, whereas the cars of other nations drive 100 kilometers per hour. The flaw isn't in the car's dust or its color. The flaw is in the engine, and that engine is the pagan and tyrannical regime, a regime in which one man can do whatever he wants, and his family can do whatever it wants, and he can lead us to war, and so on.

The Arab dictators must understand they enjoy no respect, trust, or legitimacy. We do not believe in them, want them, or love them. We have no respect for them, and we want them to leave. I think any reform must begin with this.

As a doctor, I say that these worthless Arab regimes are like a patient whose body harbors syphilis, lung cancer, bladder cancer, leukemia, Mad Cow's Disease, Mad Human's Disease, and bad breath, and you tell me that if he undergoes a face-lift he will become young again. Brother, the tyrannical Arab regime have turned us from a wealthy nation to impoverished peoples.
