In an interview with Al-Masira TV, which aired on April 22, 2019, Houthi leader Abdul-Malik Al-Houthi threatened the UAE and Saudi Arabia. Al-Houthi said: “The UAE are getting themselves into this problem and this will become a threat to them in the future.” He added that Yemen “has never been a threat to Saudi Arabia or to the UAE” but due to their "attempts to occupy Yemen," the economy and investments in the UAE are now at risk. He added: “I hope this message reaches them and they understand it properly.” Al-Houthi added that the Houthis can retaliate: “Our missiles can reach Riyadh and beyond it, they can reach Abu Dhabi and Dubai, and they can reach sensitive targets.”

Abdul-Malik Al-Houthi: The UAE are getting themselves into this problem and this will become a threat to them in the future. Yemen has never been a threat to Saudi Arabia or to the UAE, but their continuous aggression, their crimes against Yemen, and the efforts to occupy it will seriously endanger the economy and the investments in the UAE. The UAE relies heavily on market economy… The British also have many investments there, they should know that these investments will be compromised if this aggression continue, if this escalation continues, if the efforts to occupy Yemen continue, and if the daily crimes against the Yemeni people continue. I hope this message will reach them and that they will understand it properly.

Interviewer: You promised to retaliate in the heart of the aggressive countries, in case of an escalation of the situation in Al-Hudaydah. What are the details that the aggressive countries should know about this retaliation?

Abdul-Malik Al-Houthi: There are important strategic targets… Our missiles can reach Riyadh and beyond it, they can reach Abu Dhabi and Dubai, and they can reach sensitive targets. They know what I mean by vital, sensitive, important, and effective targets. We hope that they learn a lesson from it.
