UCLA professor of Law Dr. Khaled Abou El Fadl said in a December 22, 2023 sermon streamed live on the YouTube channel of the Usuli Institute that the Israelis and Americans employ the same rhetoric against the Palestinians as the Germans did against the Jews. He also stated that the U.S. that lied about beheaded babies and raped women remains silent facing the brutality of Israel in Gaza.
According to the website of the University of California, Los Angels, Dr. El Fadl is the Omar and Azmeralda Alfi Distinguished Professor of Law at the UCLA School of Law. He was also formerly the Chair of the Islamic Studies Interdepartmental Program at UCLA. He is the founder of the Institute of Advanced Usuli Studies ("The Usuli Institute"), a non-profit which describes itself as "dedicated to research and education to promote humanistically beautiful and morally elevating interpretations of Islam."
Dr. Khaled Abou El Fadl: "The Germans blamed the Jews for their own slaughter. The Germans insisted that what they did in the countries they occupied wasn't their fault. It was always the fault of the occupied. The rhetoric of the Germans is indistinguishable from the rhetoric that Israel uses about Palestinians and from the rhetoric that the United States uses about Palestinians – and indeed, the rhetoric that so much of Europe uses about Palestinians.

"If Muslims were an educated people... If... I am so fed up with 'if'... they could have easily shown how the rhetoric used by Germany lines up identically – identically – with the claims and excuses used by Israel and the United States in referring to Palestinians.

"The entire world witnesses and knows that Israelis executed Palestinians in front of their families. They had the women and children go to a particular building, on a particular floor, and involved that building, killing the women and children. And the same thing, the United States that lied about beheaded babies.... And the same United States that lied about raped women is silent. The world is not affected. It is not devastated.

"And so, they are dehumanized. They are considered like animals. Exactly like the Nazis looked [at] the Jews. Something subhuman, something less than human, exactly like the narrative and the language of the Nazis. If only the Muslims were an educated people."
