Following are excerpts from an interview with Syrian Deputy Foreign Minister Faysal Miqdad, which aired on Al-Manar TV on August 31, 2012.


Interviewer: Will the Syrian people re-elect Bashar Al-Assad if elections are held?

Faysal Miqdad: In my opinion, yes. He would get a high percentage of the vote.

Interviewer: But not 99.99%...

Faysal Miqdad: No, but he would get more than 60%...
