Activists At Pro-Palestine 'March On The Democratic National Convention' In Chicago Applaud And Cheer To News Of Iran's Attack On Israel

Participants of the April 13, 2024 pro-Palestine March on the Democratic National Convention (DNC) in Chicago applauded and cheered upon hearing that Iran launched a missile and UAV attack against Israel. Hatem Abudayyeh, chairman of the U.S. Palestinian Community Network and the spokesman of March on the DNC, announced that Iran is responding to the April 1, 2024 Israeli attack on its consulate in Damascus. He explained that the IRGC has directly launched a missile and UAV attack against "specific targets in occupied Palestine" and that Yemen and Iraq have also launched UAV attacks. The event's MC led the crowd in a chant: "Hands off Iran!" The event was livestreamed on the @marchondnc2024 Instagram account. The conference was a gathering of dozens of organizations planning a pro-Palestine march on the Democratic National Convention, scheduled to take place in Chicago in August.

Hatem Abudayyeh: "I wasn't on the schedule to speak this afternoon, but I just have to report something to everyone, and so it begins, so to speak. Twelve days ago, Israel brazenly hit an Iranian embassy compound in Syria, violating international law again."

Abudayyeh: "Iran has just responded about 30 minutes ago. This is from the Iranian Revolutionary Guards directly. They sent drones and missiles against specific targets in occupied Palestine. Israeli targets in occupied Palestine. They believe that they will be in Palestinian... I don't call it Israeli airspace... In Palestinian airspace between 2:00 and 4:00 AM, which means in about... between two and four hours from now. It is 12:00 midnight in Palestine right now. In addition, there are reports of drones having been fired on Israel from Yemen and Iraq. We must assume that it now becomes important for all of us to do what we are professionals at doing.
