This Mayadeen TV report, broadcast on May 7, 2014, presents footage of a maneuver of the Al-Quds Brigades, the military wing of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad. In it, the Brigades demonstrate their military capabilities, including anti-tank and anti-aircraft weapons.

Following are excerpts:

Reporter: “Breaking the Silence” is the name of the maneuver held by the Al-Quds Brigades, the military wing of the Islamic Jihad in Gaza. It is, in fact, preparation for what is to come.

Through this exclusive footage, the Al-Quds Brigades affirm that they are ready and waiting for the challenges to come. They are training and preparing for confrontation with the Israeli occupation.

In this video, the Al-Quds Brigades demonstrate their military capabilities, some of which were used in the recent battle, termed “Breaking the Silence.” These include a short-range missile launcher and mortars launched from the ground and from 4x4 vehicles, as well as all types of artillery systems, sniper rifles, anti-tank weapons, medium-range weapons, and light firearms.

But the Al-Quds Brigades also have weapons that they have not used before, such as anti-aircraft [missiles] and Grad missile launchers.

The Islamic Jihad Movement in Palestine was founded in the late 1970s by Dr. Fathi Shaqaqi, who was killed by Israel in Malta in 1995. In the mid-1980s, its military and security wing gained prominence. The movement, which is classified by the U.S. as a “terrorist organization,” rejects all negotiations with Israel, out of the belief that resistance along will lead to victory and will liberate the land.

The “Breaking the Silence” maneuver highlighted the desire for confrontation, and the qualitative development of weapons was evident.

In this video, the Al-Quds Brigades revealed some of the surprises they have in store, and they may have others up their sleeves.
