Head of the Health Committee in the Iranian Majles Hossein-Ali Shahriari was asked on a December 22, 2023 show on Ofogh TV (Iran) why Majles members do not focus on Palestine in their electoral campaigns ahead of the March 2024 elections. Shahriari said that Majles members try to speak less about issues that they think are not the main concern of their voters.

Host: "The honorable Majles members are engaged these days in an intensive elections campaign. They visit their constituents, make speeches, and, sometimes, raise provocative issues, in order to secure their votes. Even though the (members) have expressed their opinions on different matters, how come the Majles rarely speaks and presents views about the situation in Palestine? What? The Palestinian issue does not win votes?"

Hossein-Ali Shahriari: "The [Majles members] try to speak less about political issues, and especially about issues that they think are not the main concern of their voters. This is a fact."
