In a statement made prior to the Egyptian-mediated negotiations between Israel and Hamas, Hamas spokesman Mushir Al-Masri said: "In the lexicon of the resistance, the word tahdiah [lull] means preparation for the battles to come" and that the resistance "will continue to develop, manufacture, and expand its arsenal of weapons... until the Zionist enemy leaves our land in its entirety." The address was broadcast by Mayadeen TV on July 16, 2014.
Following are excerpts:
Mushir Al-Masri: The [talk about a ten-year truce] is all Zionist baloney. Their dream is to live in peace and security for ten years, but we will continue to give the Zionists nightmares, until the very last Zionist leaves our Palestinian land – all of Palestine, from the [Jordan] River to the [Mediterranean] Sea.

Any tahdiah [lull] will be temporary, for a set period of time. We are not talking about a long-term tahdiah or about a peace agreement. In the lexicon of the resistance, the word tahdiah means preparation for the battles to come.
Our resistance will continue to develop, manufacture, and expand its arsenal of weapons. It will manufacture new surprises for the battles to come, until the Zionist enemy leaves our land in its entirety, Allah willing.
