Egyptian TV Host Muhammad Abd Al-'Aal Berates Islamists for Not Defending the Prophet Muhammad

Source: Al-Nas TV (Egypt)

Following are excerpts from a statement made by Egyptian TV host Muhammad Abd Al-'Aal, which aired on Al-Nas TV on September 14, 2012.

Muhammad Abd Al-'Aal: We take to the streets when it comes to political issues, but we do not take to the streets when the Prophet is affronted. Explain this to me, I want to understand.

You are from the Islamic Noor Party. First, the Freedom and Justice Party said: "We will demonstrate on Friday," but then it retracted this call, calling instead for symbolic protests in front of the mosques. They explained that they wanted to prevent further casualties. But whenever the Islamists swarmed Tahrir Square, there were no victims. I'd like the Freedom and Justice Party to explain why they withdrew their call to demonstrate in Tahrir Square.

You, the Noor Party, were not properly represented in Tahrir Square either. With all due respect, you can bring out the masses.

Explain it to me. I have asked people from the Freedom and Justice Party, and I have asked people from the Noor Party. I want a better explanation. Is there anything more grave than an affront to the Prophet Muhammad? Of course not! Or am I wrong?

Then, why do we demonstrate when it comes to politics, and not when it comes to supporting the Prophet Muhammad? Is there anything more important than the Prophet of Allah?

Noor Party member: Of course not.

Muhammad Abd Al-'Aal: Okay.

I'm just a Muslim, standing up for his Prophet. These are legitimate questions. Answer them.

I have a question, and I'm directing it to the Freedom and Justice Party. Let me direct this question to you: If there was a film affronting President Mohammad Morsi, what would happen? I want to know.
