U.S.-Based Walkie-Talkie Encrypted Chat Application 'Zello' Continues To Serve As A Meeting Place For Jihadists; Calls For Attack On France Transmitted On App

A MEMRI JTTM report published on September 7, 2016, first exposed the fact that jihadists, ISIS members, and ISIS supporters from around the globe were utilizing Zello; a U.S.-based push-to-talk ("walkie-talkie") chat application. More recently, on April 25, 2017, a link to a pro-ISIS group called "Zello channel" was circulated on numerous pro-ISIS Telegram channels. The Zello Channel link shows that there are nearly 13,000 subscribers to this Zello group. A daily program on the Zello group shows that there are discussions on the Koran, nasheeds [songs], discussions with individuals with opposing views, and book reviews. It should be noted that all of the jihadist Zello groups that were first reported on in the September 2016 report appear to still be active.
