April 6, 2016

In the past, MEMRI has released reports on the use of Twitter by the Palestinian terrorist organization Hamas and its military wing, the Al-Qassam Martyrs Brigade. These include Hamas Tweets For Jihad and Martyrdom, For Expelling and Killing Jews, and For Conquering Jerusalem - Another U.S.-Designated Foreign Terrorist Organization Served By Using Twitter; and Foreign Terrorist Organization Hamas' Military Wing, Al-Qassam Brigades, Returns To Twitter After Account Shut Down In January.

MEMRI has spearheaded efforts to remove the group from social media, and has recently forced Al-Qassam to shut down its Twitter account. Iran's PressTV also recently reported that Hamas has made public complaints regarding the shutdown of their accounts, accusing Twitter of bias towards Israel.

Over the past week, Twitter has suspended several Al-Qassam and Hamas accounts. However, as of April 6, 2016, some still remain online.
