According to Saudi security researched Muhammad Amin, Saudi Arabia was the target of some 60 million cyber-attacks last year, the majority targeting the oil, gas, financial, and telecom sectors. According to Amin, Saudi Arabia "is a country that is rich in oil and gas and it has potential that criminals and other countries seek to take advantage of."
