Saudi Arabia Reports Cyber Attacks Against Government

On August 30, 2016, the official Saudi Press Agency reported that cyber attacks had targeted government institutions and "vital installations" in Saudi Arabia. The report did not specify which agencies were targeted, the extent of the breaches, or who was responsible, but did state that the attacks came from abroad and that the attackers had used malware to spy on their victims, and that the attacks originated overseas. According to the report, in response to the attacks, Saudi government officials and cyber security experts were holding "urgent" talks in Riyadh.
