Pro-ISIS Media Outlet Threatens Use Of Weaponized Drones In West

On January 25, 2019, a pro-Islamic State (ISIS) media outlet distributed a poster on Telegram featuring a drone delivering a box labelled "Private Mailbox" in New York City. Text on the poster read: "Sender: The Islamic State." The poster, originally released on December 20, 2019, also showed five images of attacks in the West that ISIS operatives carried out. ISIS has used weaponized drones in the battlefields of Syria and Iraq, and has on several occasions recommended the use of drones in attacks in the West. The drone featured in the poster, an off-the-shelf DJI Phantom drone modified to carry a payload of impact grenades, was the weaponized drone that ISIS used most frequently.
