On November 19, 2014, a new Iranian hacker group known as Retribution Committee (RC HACKERS) announced its formation. The announcement date coincided with the death of the fourth Shi'ite Imam, Ali Zain Al-Abidin. Iranian media reported that the group formed in response to comments made by a member of the National Front of Iran. The group announced that they were not linked to any other group or organization, and would act to counter insults made in cyberspace.
