Iraqi Hackers Linked To Iran-Backed Militias Claim Cyber Attack On UN High Commissioner For Human Rights Website

On August 15, 2023, a hacker group affiliated with Iran-backed militias in Iraq claimed on Telegram that it downed the homepage of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR).

In several posts, the group shared domain links and screenshots seemingly demonstrating the success of the hacking operation. "The official website of the United Nations for human rights was downed by our cyber-attacks," it proclaimed in one post, continuing, "and the website's servers were shut off by order of our attacks."
