On June 2, 2015, 3 days after suspending it, Instagram restored an account called "emamKhomeini", which had over 100,000 followers and posted pictures and quotes of the founder of the Iranian regime. According to Iran's state-run Fars news agency, Instagram was "forced" to restore the account after several media articles and thousands of protest letters by supporters of the account. The agency also complained of the "unfair treatment" the account received, while other accounts, including ones belonging to ISIS, continued regular operation.
