On September 28, Indian hackers launched #OpPak - a retaliatory cyber-attack against more than 200 Pakistani websites, which came in response to a Pakistani hack of the Kerala government website the previous day. A message from the Indian hacker group Hell Shield Hackers read: "If the government can't do it, we would do it. We are here to defend India, non-profit. They hacked our government site, and we knocked Pakistan offline."

Cyber-attacks and counter attacks between Pakistani and Indian hackers have been going on since 2010.
