In Statement On 'Dark Web' Website, Pro-ISIS Tech Group Reiterates Importance Of Social Media Presence, Calls On Supporters To 'Break Media Siege' Of Telegram, Continue To Open Accounts

On March 11, 2019, a pro-Islamic State (ISIS) tech group released a statement directing the group's online supporters to expand their operations beyond Telegram, urging them to "break the media siege" around them and to continue opening social media accounts on other platforms despite suspensions. While the group has several Telegram accounts, the statement was published only on the group's website on the dark web. The group describes ISIS supporters' activities online in the last five years, especially their extensive use of social media platforms like Twitter and Facebook, through which, it says, ISIS supporters reached out to people and called for jihad, among other things.
