On March 2, 2016, Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) held a public event titled "Oh Aqsa We Are Coming," in the city of Mukalla, Yemen, which has been under the group's control since April 2015.
The AQAP-affiliated Al-Athir media agency tweeted photos of the event's first evening; the photos show hundreds of people, notably children and teenagers, in attendance. The event was held in the Al-Khor region of the city, and is set to continue until Friday, March 4, 2016.
One of the videos featured a speech by AQAP senior commander Khaled Batarfi.
Photos also showed people standing inside tents picking up leaflets and looking at posters glorifying 9/11 and featuring pictures of the hijackers and of slain Al-Qaeda commanders, including Osama bin Laden, Abu Mus'ab Al-Zarqawi, and Saeed Al-Shihri.
It is noteworthy that AQAP concludes nearly all productions by its official media arm Al-Malahem with the slogan "Oh Aqsa We Are Coming."
