On August 4, 2022, a media outlet of the Afghan Taliban launched an official account on the Chirpwire encrypted social platform. The account published several posts about military drills that are being conducted by a special unit of the Taliban armed forces.
In addition, the account posted an English-language statement responding to the killing of Al-Qaeda Leader Ayman Al-Zawahiri in a U.S. drone strike in Kabul, Afghanistan, saying the Taliban "instructed the investigative and intelligence agencies to conduct a comprehensive and serious investigation into the various aspects of the incident."
