Iranian Deputy FM: 4,000 Centrifuges Operating At Natanz; Despite Sanctions, Iran’s Industrial Output Increased Tenfold

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Ali-Reza Sheikh Attar said yesterday that almost 4,000 centrifuges are operating at the Natanz uranium enrichment facilities. Sheikh-Attar told Iranian Channel One, on the occasion of Government Week, that 3,000 more centrifuges are currently being installed.

Report: U.S. To Establish Intelligence Base At Iran-Iraq Border

Senior IRGC Officials Threaten To Close Strait Of Hormuz, Hit U.S. Troops

In an interview with the Iranian news agency Fars, IRGC ground force commander Mohammad Jafar Assadi said that Iraq was a "big prison" for U.S. troops, and added that if Iran were to be attacked, the U.S. would not be able to withdraw its forces from Iraq and Afghanistan overnight. Assadi stressed that Iran controlled "arteries essential to the enemy" because it held the region from Pasbandar to Shat Al-Arab and part of the Gulf of Oman.

Iranian Ambassador To Russia: Tehran, Moscow In Agreement On Bushehr Nuclear Facility

Former IRGC Official: Iran Operating Assassination Unit In Iraq

Iranian Sunni Rebels Kill More Hostages In Iran

Iranian Sunni rebels holding a group of policemen hostage claimed to have killed two of them and also to have abducted three IRGC officers. Al-Arabiya TV said yesterday, citing a spokesman for the Jondollah group, that the rebels killed the two men after "the failure of contacts between the Iranian government and Jondollah."

Computer games as well as a DVD with information on Iranian cultural sites have been unveiled by Iran's Tebyan Art and Cultural Institute. Iranian Daily: India, Israel Anti-Islamic Strategic Partners

An article in the Iranian daily Jomhouri-e Eslami stated that hostility towards Islam is drawing India and Israel together and making them strategic partners, especially in security matters. New IRGC Unit Tasked With Monitoring Foreign Forces In Gulf

As part of the reorganization of the IRGC, a new unit formed in Hormozgan Province in the south of the country has been tasked with monitoring foreign forces in the Persian Gulf. Senior IRGC official Khalil Rastegar stated, "The IRGC, the army, and the Basij are standing side by side by the blue waters of the Persian Gulf, and are ready to sacrifice themselves in defense of the values and goals of the Islamic Revolution."

Iranian Paper: Our Missile Capabilities, As Revealed By War Games, Threaten U.S. Bases, Troops

New IRGC Appointments

Brig.-Gen. Mohammad Jafar Assadi has been appointed commander of the IRGC's ground force, and Hojjatoleslam Hossein Taeb was named new commander of IRGC's Basij force. Also, Brig.-Gen. Mohammad Hejazi was appointed commander of the Sarallah military base; he retains his post as acting IRGC commander.

Ayatollah Emami-Kashani in Tehran Friday Sermon: "Oh Liar Israel! Oh Liar White House! If You Wish To Attack Iran, We Will Give You a Response That Will Make You Regretful"

On July 11, 2008, several Iranian websites published an English translation of a Friday sermon given by senior Iranian cleric Ayatollah Mohammad Emami-Kashani. In the sermon, Ayatollah Emani-Kashani insisted that Iran posed no threat and would respond to an invasion. Following is a summary of the sermon as posted in English on those websites.

Iran Test-Fires 'Hout' Torpedo In Ongoing War Games

In the third day of the ongoing Great Prophet III war games being conducted by Iran in the Persian Gulf and Strait of Hormuz, the IRGC launched the "Hout" torpedo. Iran's IRIBnews website and Hamsharhi daily stated that only Iran and another country are capable of building this torpedo.

Iran Launches Shihab-3 Missiles; IRGC Air Force Cmdr: Iran's Finger Constantly On Trigger Of Hundreds And Thousands Of Missiles Against Enemies

Iranian Daily: U.S., Israel – Iran's Hostages

In an editorial, the Iranian daily Kayhan, which is close to Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, stated that despite the threats by the U.S. and Israel that Iran can expect to be attacked at any minute, everyone knows "which side is a hostage and which side is in firing range in this convoluted game of chess."

Senior IRGC Official: Iran Arming With Advanced Ammunition

Mohammad Saharbaghi, commander of artillery and missile units in the land branch of the IRGC, said that IRGC forces are arming with smart ammunition "of the most advanced kind" and with cluster bombs capable of hitting small moving targets.
