Tunisian prime ministerial candidate Hamadi Al-Jabali, who is secretary-general of Tunisia's Islamist Al-Nahda Party, is thought likely to become the country's first democratically elected premier.[1] On November 13, 2011, he spoke at a rally in the coastal city of Sousse, where he said, "Brothers, you are witnessing a divine, historic moment: a new era in civilization, Allah willing, the sixth caliphate!"
Also speaking at the rally was Palestinian Legislative Council member from Hamas Houda Naim; in her speech, she praised the Tunisian people's revolution, and expressed hope that the liberation of Tunisia would lead to the liberation of Palestine. According to a report, this is the first time "in known memory" that a member of Hamas has addressed the Tunisian public.[2]
