On December 19, 2011, online jihadi forums announced the imminent release of a previously unreleased video message, titled "Shaheed Al-Da'wa (The Da'wa Martyr)," by the late Yemeni-American radical Sheikh Anwar Al-Awlaki. The video, produced by the Al-Malahim media company, AQAP's media wing, is expected to include a message from Al-Awlaki to Muslims living in the West.
Information about the video appears to have surfaced online already, on December 7, when an article on it was posted on Alwasat. The article is believed to have been written by 'Abd Al-Razzaq Al-Jamal, a Yemeni journalist who visited AQAP strongholds and interviewed several AQAP commanders. That article gives new insight into AQAP's local, regional and global strategy, particularly about the role Anwar Al-Awlaki played in the group, the group's fight against the U.S., and its connection to the newly established Ansar Al-Sharia group.
