Lebanon, Palestinians | Special Dispatch No. 10593

In a recent article, Pakistani columnist Ghazala Aziz discussed the situation following rocket attacks on Israel from southern Lebanon. Her article, titled "The Missile Attacks From Lebanon", appeared in Roznama Jasarat, a major Urdu newspaper belonging to Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan, an Islamist organization.

"The rocket attack from Lebanon has been encouraged and praised by the Palestinian resistance organizations and the top Palestinian leadership. Their spokesman said that the enemy should know well that no Muslim can sit quietly without a mosque. Millions and billions of Muslims are behind it," Ghazala Aziz wrote.

In her article, she criticized Israeli policies with regard to the recent raids in Al-Aqsa mosque. "On the one hand, the Jewish Zionists are given complete exemption from the desecration of Jerusalem, rather security is provided. On the other hand, restrictions are imposed on the arrival of Muslim worshipers at Al-Aqsa Mosque," she stated.

Following are excerpts from the article:[1]

"The Palestinians Took A Major Step To Respond To The Israeli Attack On Al-Aqsa Mosque [By Launching Missile Attacks From Lebanon]"

"The Palestinians took a major step to respond to the Israeli attack on Al-Aqsa Mosque. This came as a surprise to Israel when rockets started raining down on occupied Palestine from southern Lebanon due to which many Israeli settlers were injured, and property was destroyed. According to Israeli media, the Iron Dome intercepted half of them.

"Arab political analyst Yassin Ezzedine calls these attacks via Lebanon a symbolic attack that is a clear message to the enemy. He says it is also a sign that now apart from Gaza, the enemy is facing resistance on multiple fronts in the West Bank and Jerusalem, that is, the resistance front is expanding. This has now spread beyond Palestine and transferred to Lebanon. It is also very surprising for Israel, which at the time had its eyes on Gaza, and is surprised by this attack from southern Lebanon.

"Israeli media say that this is the biggest explosion since the 2006 war. Dr. Adnan Abu Amer, an expert on Zionist affairs, says that Israel has always prided itself on its intelligence system that counts the Palestinians' breaths. But in this daylight attack, they realized that all their intelligence had failed miserably.

"The rocket attack from Lebanon has been encouraged and praised by the Palestinian resistance organizations and the top Palestinian leadership. Their spokesman said that the enemy should know well that no Muslim can sit quietly without a mosque. Millions and billions of Muslims are behind it.

"The issue is that Israel is not affected by such things, and they are not going to be convinced by words. In the most recent attack on Al-Aqsa Mosque, Palestinian worshipers were attacked with grenades and bullets, the worshipers were forced out, subjected to brutal torture, and many were arrested."

"The Steadfastness With Which Hamas Has Faced Israeli Terrorism With Recent Missile Attacks Proves That Other Palestinian Forces Are Also Uniting"

"Last week [preceding April 19], an extremist Israeli minister visited Al-Aqsa Mosque amid tight security. Apart from Muslim countries, America also condemned it and demanded a stop to the dangerous and provocative violations in the premises of Al-Aqsa Mosque. At the beginning of the year, when Zionist extremists came to power in Israel, all areas of the city of Jerusalem began to fall victim to the organized terrorism and crimes of the Israeli state.

"Restrictions were imposed on Al-Quds and the lives of those living there were shortened. Every year there are raids on Al-Quds. Thousands of Jews have committed desecration of the First Qibla. On the one hand, the Jewish Zionists are completely excempted from the desecration of Jerusalem, rather security is provided. On the other hand, restrictions are imposed on the arrival of Muslim worshipers at Al-Aqsa Mosque so that their access to the mosque can be difficult.

"Under a recent new restriction, Palestinians between the ages of 18 and 50 have been banned from entering the mosque and offering prayers. There are checkpoints and gates of the Israeli army and police on the outskirts of the city of Jerusalem. Exorbitant taxes are levied to pressure the civilians of Jerusalem. A campaign of confiscation of property goes hand in hand.

"The incidents of targeting the mosque are also increasing rapidly. All these factors are inviting resistance and rage. The lava can erupt at any time. In these circumstances, the support of the Muslim Ummah is necessary for the Palestinians. This is a ray of hope for them. The international community is condemning as always, but mere condemnation is no longer enough.

"Sanctions must be imposed on Israel. Otherwise, on the other hand, the steadfastness with which Hamas has faced Israeli terrorism with recent missile attacks proves that other Palestinian forces are also uniting."
