On November 30, 2023, Telegram channels linked to Iran-backed militias shared a statement issued by the "Islamic Resistance in Iraq," an Iran-backed joint operations group consisting of Iraqi militias. The statement threatened that the group would escalate attacks inside and outside Iraq if the U.S. insists on resuming war in Gaza and southern Lebanon.[1]

The statement read: "The Zionist crimes and brutal genocide committed against the Palestinian people are an integral part of the war administered by America against the people in Gaza and in southern Lebanon. While the Islamic Resistance in Iraq affirms that it will not leave its people to face the worlds' tyrants alone, it declares its readiness to escalate its military operations inside and outside Iraq if the American enemy insists on the resumption of the Zionist killing machine, be it in the steadfast Gaza or in proud southern Lebanon."
