Nasser Al-Shammari, the spokesman for the Al-Nujaba movement, a pro-Iranian Shi'ite militia in Iraq, announced that his organization is ready to take an active part in a direct confrontation with Israel if a request comes from "the Palestinian Islamic resistance." He says that his organization has the capability to attack deep within Israel from the Syria-Israel border if the residents of the region agree.

In an interview he gave on the invitation-only Clubhouse social media application to several "local and foreign journalists, including those from The Washington Post, the BBC and CNN, etc.," which was posted on the movement's website (Alnujaba.ir),[1] Al-Shammari stresses that the balance of power in the region in general, and in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in particular, has changed, due to the end of the American hegemony in the region and the beginning of the end of Israel.

Al-Nujaba is not the only Shi'ite militia which has expressed readiness and willingness to take an active part in the fighting in Israel, during the most recent confrontation between Israel and the Palestinians. The Ashab Al-Kahf (People of the Cave) group and the Sayyid Al-Shuhada Brigades also declared their readiness to do the same.[2]

There is no doubt that these declarations are inspired by Iran, which sponsors these groups, and aspires to become the patron of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

The following are translated excerpts from Al-Shammari's interview, as posted on the Al-Nujaba website:

We Are At A Historical Turning Point; It Is The Beginning Of The End Of The Zionist Regime

First, Al-Shammari "congratulated the Palestinian Islamic Resistance, saying that its strikes had reached all the occupied territories and expressed hope that this battle would be a strategic one that is not comparable to the past and should be considered as a prelude to the decline of the Zionist regime."

He praised Iran's involvement in developing the capabilities of the Palestinian factions, saying: "The Islamic Republic of Iran passed on its experiences to the resistance through Martyr [Qasem] Soleimani, and as a clear example, today we see for the first time that a balance of power has been formed between the Palestinian Islamic Resistance and Israel.

"We are at a turning point in the history of the region and the world where two important changes are taking place – the American hegemony over this region is ending and the decline of the Zionist regime is beginning. God-willing the existing forces will be in charge of the region in the next forty years."

We Will Take Part In The Palestinian Struggle If There Is A Formal Request From The Palestinian Islamic Factions; We Have The Capabilities To Attack Deep Within Israel From The Golan Heights

Al-Shammari stressed: "We are ready to enter into a direct conflict with the Zionist regime in support of Palestine."

In response to a question about whether or not operatives from his organization "moved toward" the Syria-Israel border he said: "We consider it our religious duty to help the Palestinian Islamic Resistance in the face of the Zionist regime and we have this intention. Therefore, we will move whenever it is ordered.

"As for such news, I must say that the positions and actions of Al-Nujaba are expressed by the secretary-general, the official spokesman, or the chairman of the political council of the movement and nothing else expresses our opinion.

"As an Islamic Resistance group, we are hopeful and prepared to take an active part in this battle with our weapons that reach deep into the occupied territories….

"Iraq's Al-Nujaba Islamic Resistance Movement is ready to cooperate in any form on all fronts against the Zionist regime if it receives an official request from the Palestinian Islamic Resistance groups. Palestine is their land and we cannot enter their battlefield without coordination and official invitation.

"As for the 'Golan,' we have sufficient preparation and facilities to target the depth of the occupied territories and inflict painful blows on the Zionist enemy. Of course, the people of that area must also agree.

"Our dream is to participate in anti-Zionist operations, and if necessary, we will be present in Lebanon, the Golan Heights or the Gaza Strip."

Al-Shammari expressed confidence that the balance of power between Israel and the Palestinians has changed following the most recent confrontation, "whether or not there will be a ceasefire."

He says: "No Zionist is safe in the occupied territories. This conflict was the beginning of the decline of Israel and I am certain that the Islamic Resistance will spread throughout the occupied territories and will reach other parts of Palestine as soon as the weapons reach the Gaza Strip.

Our Operations Against The American Forces In Iraq Increase Every Day; Those Forces Will Be Completely Expelled From Our Country

Addressing the American presence in Iraq, Al-Shammari said that after the assassination of Qasem Soleimani: "We promised that there would be no American troops on Iraqi soil and we started targeting American military positions. Anti-American operations are increasing daily and in the near future, these forces will be completely expelled from our country.

He clarified the position of his organization regarding the Arab regimes which have normalized their relations with Israel: "We differentiate between mercenary governments and the Arab people and we do not consider these countries as enemies but rather we consider the compromising governments as mercenaries and traitors who are the stooges of Israel and the United States and the enemies of their people."
