On October 25, 2022 a Syrian opposition website reported that it has begun monitoring the movement and bases of Iran-backed militias in Syria's Al-Bukamal region by means of drones. The announcement comes following security restrictions imposed by the militias on journalists in the region.
The website also reported that the Iranian IRGC commander in the area has even offered a cash prize for people who provide information about the website's journalists and has established an undercover unit for monitoring their activities. The website shared a photo of an article featuring an aerial photograph of a home in which a militia meeting took place.
