July 29, 2022

On July 26, 2022, several Telegram channels that support Iran-backed militias in Iraq shared a three-minute-long video purportedly depicting a same-day attack involving Iranian-made Murad-6 drones on Turkish bases in the Iraqi Kurdish villages of Barukhi (near Iraq's border with Turkey) and Siri (in the Sulaymaniyah governorate). The video shows the preparations for the attack, and five armed and masked fighters can be seen alongside a drone. In addition, it shows the group's spokesman warning that the group will not allow an "Ottoman state to be established on Iraqi soil."
