On January 5, 2022, a pro-Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) Telegram channel reported that according to "local sources," the Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS used drones to attack a weapon storage facility of the Iranian militias east of Deir Al-Zour Governorate, Syria, which led to some casualties. On the same day, another pro-HTS Telegram channel released a short video clip, saying it documents the attack on the storage facility. The previous day, a pro-HTS Telegram channel reported that unidentified drones attacked Iranian militia positions in Syria's A-Quriyah and Al-Asharah areas.
