Hackers Linked To Iran-Backed Militias In Iraq Claim Attack On Israeli Government Website, Post Israeli Citizens' Personal Data

During the first week of April 2024, two new cyber groups associated with Iran-backed militias in Iraq opened channels on the Telegram messaging service and announced the launch of a campaign against the "Zionist criminals" with the declared goal of punishing them for their "brutal killing of innocent Palestinian children and women in Gaza." At the same time, a third group of Iraqi hackers which is also connected to the Iran-backed militias in Iraq, announced that it was recommencing operations, after being inactive for a year, and was joining the campaign. The three groups jointly announced the first operation in the framework of the campaign, which included hacking the website of an Israeli government body and acquiring personal data pertaining to eight million Israeli citizens.
