Bahraini Hackers Target State-Run Newspaper Website On Eve Of Shi'ite Opposition's 'Day Of Rage' 12th Anniversary

A Bahraini group hacked the website of Bahraini state-run media outlet on February 13, a day before the 12th anniversary of the Shi'ite uprising in Bahrain, known by protesters as the "Day of Rage," which took place on February 14, 2011.

Tweeting in Arabic and English, the group claimed to have seized control of the newspaper website as part of its support for the "oppressed people of Bahrain." A pro-Iran Bahraini opposition news website reported that the hackers published reports on the hacked website highlighting alleged Bahraini government corruption and the grievances of prisoners and the people of Bahrain.
