Al-Qaeda's "Islamic State of Iraq" Calls on Muslims to Join Uighur Jihad Against China

On August 22, 2009, the media division of Al-Qaeda's "Islamic State of Iraq" organization (ISI) released the sixth video in its "Knights of Martyrdom" series, which celebrates jihadists killed in the war in Iraq.

Video Urges Support for Islamic Party of Turkestan, Shows Uighur Kids Training forJihad

On August 27, 2009, jihadist websites posted a 39-minute video from the Uighur jihadist "Islamic Party of Turkestan" (IPT) calling on the Uighurs in Xinjiang Province to support its jihad against China. The video was produced before the recent clashes between Uighurs and Han Chinese in Urumchi; the title screen lists the month as Jumada II 1430, which is equivalent to May-June 2009.
