THE MEMRI SUMMER 2023 CAMPAIGN ENDS TODAY – We Need Your Support

August 17, 2023
Special Announcements No. 1377

We at MEMRI would like to express our deepest appreciation for you, a loyal reader of MEMRI research. We know that you are aware of the critical importance of our work. Our Summer 2023 fundraising campaign is ending today – if you have not yet renewed your support for our groundbreaking projects and initiatives, please consider doing so at this time. Help us to continue to bridge the language gap between the Middle East, Iran, Turkey, South Asia, the Caucasus, Russia, China, and the West.

PLEASE DONATE TODAY – DONATIONS CAN NOW BE MADE IN CRYPTOCURRENCY

For 25 years, MEMRI has been providing vital research, primary source translations, and original analysis to the governments of the U.S. and its allies, and to their counterterrorism officials, law enforcement agencies, militaries, and other authorities, assisting them in tackling threats and facing adversaries. We work with news organizations and media to inform their understanding of the complexities of issues and developments in all these countries, and serve as a valuable resource for academia worldwide.

As one of the most productive U.S.-based think tanks, MEMRI has published 354 Special Dispatch translations, 103 Inquiry and Analysis reports and Daily Briefs, and 410 MEMRI TV clips, which have had nearly 5 million views to date. On social media – YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram – we have over 470,000 followers.

We need your help to continue our critical work. With recent world events and heightened tensions across the region and at home, our work is more crucial than ever. No one else is doing the work that we do.

Your gift today will ensure that our programs and initiatives succeed, in the rest of 2023 and beyond. The generosity and dedication of donors like you is the only reason we can continue to do our important work.

Major developments we are covering include:

  • Russia, China, And Iran: The New Anti-West Axis – Russia, China, and Iran are coordinating their activities, including with joint military exercises; visits by senior military commanders to other countries' military bases; and joint planning. Iran has been supplying advanced drones to Russia; China has recently been providing Russia with additional military aid through Iran; Russia and Iran have been cooperating in cyber operations; Iran has recently joined the Shanghai Cooperation Organization; after a recent SCO meeting, Iran's Defense Minister stated that the three countries jointly oppose the American and Western global hegemony; and Iran's naval commander has openly stated that Iran's fleet can reach America's coast. MEMRI research has revealed that the primary targets of this new and dangerous axis are the U.S. and Israel.

There is a critical need for comprehensive, specialized research – involving analysis of primary source materials in multiple languages – into this interconnected threat, so that U.S. and Israeli governments, policymakers, and media can remain informed. MEMRI's Russian Media Studies Project (RMSP), Chinese Media Studies Project (CMSP), and Iran Studies Project are closely monitoring these developments and meeting this need.

  • Palestinians – The latest round of Israeli-Gaza fighting further underlined Iran's support for the Palestinian terror factions, with Hamas leaders openly declaring that Iran is a firm foundation for its struggle against Israel and the U.S. – as Palestinian columnists complain about the factions' turning Gaza into a battlefield.

YOUR TAX-DEDUCTIBLE GIFT SUPPORTS ALL OF OUR VITAL WORK

We need your help to continue our crucial projects:

  • MEMRI TV – This project provides around-the-clock translations of nearly 100 Arab, Iranian, Urdu, Turkish, Russian, and Chinese TV channels, and offers in-depth insight into complex situations that other sources cannot. To date, MEMRI TV clips have had over 350 million views across the web.

  • Lantos Archives on Antisemitism and Holocaust Denial – Named after the late honorable Congressman and Holocaust survivor Tom Lantos, this project exposes Muslim antisemitism in the Arab and Muslim world and the West and maintains the world's largest archives on this subject.

  • Jihad and Terrorism Threat Monitor (JTTM) Project – Monitoring, translating, and analyzing content online by jihadi organizations and individuals, with a focus on their outreach, expansion, recruitment, indoctrination, social media, and fundraising.

  • Domestic Terrorism Threat Monitor (DTTM) Project –Scrutinizing online propaganda, incitement, threats, and recruitment activity by violent neo-Nazi groups and individuals.

  • Sermons By Imams In The West Project – MEMRI TV clips of hate-filled sermons by imams throughout the U.S. and Canada have prompted widespread criticism from political leaders and public apologies from some imams. This project is especially important in light of the recent U.S. Strategy to Counter Antisemitism, which ignored this reality of Islamic antisemitism in the U.S. and the West.

  • Reform Project – Translating media and other primary source content to highlight and amplify the voices of reformists and liberals who support reform, democracy, equality, and human rights.
