This week in jihad was marked by an emerging focus by jihadist leaders on religious and ideological issues relating to matters of authority and legitimacy. The main questions discussed were the role of the ulema (scholars and clerics) in correcting the path of Muslim rulers, and the legitimacy of killing Christians and killing Americans.
