Jabhat Al-Nusra Emir Calls For Unity Among Jihadi Groups, Condemns Hizbullah Involvement, Urges Sunni Scholars To Come To Syria

On July 21, 2013, Al-Manara Al-Baida, the media arm of the Syria-based Jabhat Al-Nusra released an audio statement in which the group's emir, Abu Muhammad Al-Joulani, expressed firm determination to continue fighting to implement the shari'a in Syria, condemned Hizbullah's involvement in the war, called on Jihadi groups to unite, and urged Sunni scholars to come to Syria.

In the statement, which was titled "The Upcoming Days Will be Better than the Past Ones" and published on leading jihadi forums, social media sites, and YouTube, Al-Joulani started by giving historical background about Syria - a land which had witnessed a number of conflicts between a number of forces throughout history.

Members Of Jihadi Forums Call For Attacks On Egyptian Military

In several postings on the jihadi forum Shumoukh Al-Islam, forum members called for attacks against the Egyptian military in response to what they consider a blatant war launched by the military against Islam on its part.

One member, with the user name Salah Al-Din Al-Ayoubi, said that Mursi's ouster is secondary to the war waged by the military against the Islamic faith in collaboration with the Christians and secularists. He said that it was unnecessary to seek a fatwa for killing military officers or officials in the security services.

Al-Qaeda-Affiliated Islamic State Of Iraq And Al-Sham Takes Responsibility For Two Mass Prison Breaks In Iraq

On July 21, 2013, two of Iraq's largest prisons – Abu Ghraib in Baghdad and Al-Hout in the Al-Taji area – were attacked in a joint operation, and hundreds of prisons escaped from both prisons. Prevailing opinions are that the attackers were members of Al-Qaeda in Iraq, and there were wildly varying reports on the number of dead and injured, and the number of escaped prisoners.

On July 23, 2013, the jihadi website Shumoukh Al-Islam posted a communique by the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) dated July 23 taking responsibility for the action, which they called "Submitting the Tyrants." According to the organization, the joint action began with breaking through the gates of both prisons and their surrounding walls by detonating 12 car bombs and severing the roads leading to them, and ended with the release of hundreds of prisoners, among them over 500 mujahideen.

Following the action, jihadi websites featured joyous reactions and congratulations to ISIS by mujahideen in various jihad arenas including Saudi Arabia and Palestine. Furthermore, forums and social networks reported on the beheading of the commander of Abu Ghraib prison, although this was not mentioned in the ISIS communique.

ISIS Takes Responsibility For Attack

The ISIS communique begins by stating that this action comes after a series of daring operations in the depths of the Shi'ite areas in Iraq during the past four months, in response to the aggression of the Shi'ite government and its crimes against Sunnis. It later stated that this action came in response to the call by the head of ISIS, mujahid Sheikh Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi, to end the "Wall Destruction" campaign that started exactly one year prior, with a "quality attack that submits the apostate tyrants" and bring about the release of "the lions trapped in the darkness of the prisons."

The communique described the attack and its results as follows:

Afghan Taliban Video Reveals How Fighters Trained For The Camp Bastion Attack

Taliban suicide bombers featured in the video

The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (the Taliban's shadow government in the country) has released a video, showing three well-organized teams of Taliban fighters who attacked a British-run military facility of NATO forces in southern Helmand province, undergoing military training and recording their statements before the massive raid.

The attack on September 14, 2012 targeted Camp Bastion, a military facility of British forces in Helmand province that adjoins Camp Leatherneck, a vast U.S. Marines facility that serves as the NATO headquarters for southwestern Afghanistan. As the facility is located in Shoraab area, Afghans call it Shoraab base. Media reports had indicated that the Taliban fighters destroyed or severely damaged eight fighter jets and fuel reservoirs, causing an estimated loss of $200 million. Prince Harry was reportedly present at Camp Bastion at the time of the attack.

Interview: Top Taliban Official Urges Muslims For Donations In The Name Of Jihad, Reveals Phone Numbers And Email Addresses

Mullah Abu Ahmad is Director of the Economic Commission of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, the Taliban's shadow government in the country. In this position, he is practically the Afghan Taliban's finance minister, with representatives in all provinces of Afghanistan. He also says that his representatives are based in a neighboring country, a reference to Pakistan, as well as in various Muslim countries, including the Gulf nations.

Interestingly, in the interview below he does not talk in terms of Afghan currency, the Afghani, but in terms of the Rupee, Pakistan's currency. This effectively means that his campaigns for donations are being managed from Pakistan.

In the interview, he explains the Islamic sharia-based reasons for financially supporting jihad, noting that the Koran and Prophet Muhammad made It obligatory on Muslims to wage financial jihad.

Following are excerpts from the interview:

Al-Qaeda's Pakistani Official Ustad Farooq Talks Of Visiting France, Says: 'Infidels Are Projecting These Bad Models [Like Malala Yousafzai, Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy And Sania Mirza] On Muslim Women Because They Want To Make Them One Of Them'

In a new lecture released by Al-Qaeda, its top Pakistani official Ustad Ahmad Farooq asks Muslim women not to follow the West or West-projected role models like Malala Yousafzai, award-winning Pakistani filmmaker and journalist Sharmeen Obaid, or Sania Mirza, an Indian tennis star now married to a Pakistani cricketer.

Ustad Ahmad Farooq is the Head of Al-Qaeda's Media and Preaching Department for Pakistan. He calls these women vile and asks Muslim women to beware of the Western and Jewish conspiracies to defile Muslim women. In the lecture, Farooq indicates that at some point he has visited France where he witnessed women's situation.

The 55:19-minute audio lecture is entitled Musalman Khwateen se Quran ko Matlub Kirdar (The Character sought by the Koran from Muslim women). It was released by Al-Sahab, the broadcasting arm of Al-Qaeda.

[Malala Yousafzai, Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy And Sania Mirza] Are Such Characterless And Faithless Women That They Should Not Be Called Women; And Whom They [The West] Project As Role Model For Muslim Women"

Ustad Ahmad Farooq's lesson begins with three verses from the Koran bearing some examples from among women. The verses are as follow:

"Allah presents an example of those who disbelieved: the wife of Noah and the wife of Lot. They were under two of Our righteous servants but betrayed them, so those prophets did not avail them from Allah at all, and it was said, 'Enter the Fire with those who enter.'"

TTP To Open 'Branch' In Indian Kashmir, Says: 'Our Sympathies Are With The People Of Kashmir; Allah Willing, We Will Soon Launch A Branch For Sympathy With Kashmiris'

In a new video, the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP or the Movement of Pakistani Taliban), warns that it is ready to open a branch in Indian Kashmir. It also notes foreign militants are working within the ranks of the TTP.

The video has been produced by Umar Media, the broadcasting arm of the TTP. It features an interview of Ihsanullah Ihsan, who was recently removed from his post as the TTP spokesman. The timing of the video is unclear.

"We Want Promotion Of Islamic Ideology, Implementation Of An Islamic Agenda And Establishment Of An Islamic Government In This Country [Pakistan]"

In the video, Ihsanullah Ihsan, who was recently removed from his post as the TTP spokesman, warns of embaring on jihad in Kashmir. He states: "India is a usurper and always snatched the rights of Kashmiris and unleashed cruelties on them. Our sympathies are with people of Kashmir. Allah willing, we will soon launch a branch for sympathy with Kashmiris that will be related with jihad in Kashmir."
