On October 18, 2023, Al-Jazeera Network (Qatar) aired an interview with a man who was introduced as a doctor at the Al-Ahli Hospital in Gaza, which Hamas stated was targeted by an Israeli airstrike that claimed 500 lives the previous night. The doctor said that he would continue providing medical services to the local community. In the footage of the interview, you can clearly see the hospital structure in the background. According to Israel Defense Force Spokesman, the blast was a result of a Palestinian Islamic Jihad rocket misfire from a nearby cemetery.

Interviewer: "What is your plan now?"

Doctor: "We will continue our humanitarian mission in this place, despite everything that happened. This place is older than the occupation. We have provided medical services for our people for 140 years.

"In this medical institution, we have a humanitarian mission. We have no other place to work from. We provide services to the surrounding area..."

Interviewer: "Will you continue [working here]?"

Doctor: "Yes, we will."

Interviewer: "How can you? Some places are destroyed..."

Doctor: "We will try to fix what can be fixed, but we will continue in our medical and humanitarian mission, inshallah."
