Hamas MP Marwan Abu Ras in a Friday Sermon: The Jews Are "the Vilest Nation in History"

In a Friday sermon delivered in Gaza on August 26, Hamas MP lambasted the Saudi delegation, headed by retired Saudi general Dr. Anwar Eshki, which had visited Israel in July to promote the Arab peace initiative. "You are a supporter of the Jews, even if you came from the Land of the Two Holy Mosques," he said, calling the Jews "the vilest and most despicable nation in history," who "betray everyone" and "never abide by any pace they make." The sermon was broadcast by the Hamas-owned Al-Aqsa TV channel.

Following are excerpts

Marwan Abu Ras: "Palestine is occupied by the most despicable nation on the face of the Earth. Those Jews are the vilest and most despicable nation in history. They never command good or forbid evil, and they never abide by any pact they make with Muslims or with infidels. They have betrayed everybody they have known. They have betrayed their supporters, betrayed their allies, betrayed everybody. They never command good or forbid evil. They were part of the social fabric in Algeria in the days of the revolution. When the revolution broke out, the Jews met and discussed the matter among themselves. 'Who will win? Who is stronger?' they asked, even though they were from among the Algerian owners of the land. 'Who is stronger?' they asked. 'Colonialsim,' was the answer. France was strong. 'Who is weaker?' they asked themselves. 'The Algerian people.' 'So we shall support the strong against the weak.' They joined the plundering colonists in oppressing the people.

"They oppressed the people and conspired against them. They fought alongside the colonists, and when the revolution emerged victorious, the Jews fled Algeria for fear that the Algerian people would take revenge upon them. These are their norms. This is their mentality. So how can it possibly be - the heart weaps... How can it be that someone comes from the Land of the Two Holy Mosques, shakes hands with the Jews, and enters our country, Palestine, with a Jewish visa?! His (Saudi) flag bears the words: 'There is no god but Allah, and Muhammad is His Messenger" - yet he enters with a Jewish visa, under the protection of the Jews. He enters our occupied Palestinian and says: 'The resistance never killed even a fly.' The story is clear now. You are a supporter of the Jews, even if you came from the Land of the Two Holy Mosques. You are a supporter of the Jews, and Allah will punish you as you deserve."
