TV Network Operating from Turkey: The U.S. Is Not a Democratic State!

#5337 | 01:30

A filler broadcast on the Arabic-language Al-Qanat TV channel, operating from Turkey, states that "the U.S.A. is not a democratic state" because of its representative democratic system. The filler, broadcast on February 20, ends with the question: "So what are the principles of this false democracy, when the voice of the voter becomes worthless, and a rich minority controls all the reins of power?"

Voiceover: "The USA is not a democratic state! Recent studies conducted on the world's governments have proven there are no true democratic countries according to the accepted definition of democracy: The rule of the people by the people. All the current democracies are considered representative democracies... The people do not rule themselves, but instead, they appoint representatives. As the US presidential elections draw near, people unfamiliar to the US electoral process are surprised to learn that the winner of the elections is not the one who receives most votes. Al Gore won more than half a million votes more than George Bush Jr., but the latter won the election because the voters elect representatives from each state, and the votes are counted according to the state's relative weight. So what are the principles of this false democracy, when the voice of the voter becomes worthless, and a rich minority controls all the reins of power?"
