Terror in London (13) - Lebanese Political Science Professor George Hajjar: America Is the New Nazism; Britain and America Have Destroyed the World

#764 | 03:26
Source: Al-Manar TV (Lebanon)

The following are excerpts from an interview with Dr. George Hajjar, a professor of political science at Notre Dame University in Lebanon, which aired on Al-Manar TV on July 13, 2005.

Host: To what extent are the US and its policies responsible for what happened in London and earlier in Madrid?

Hajjar: The US, since World War II and to this day, has turned from a bourgeois, liberal, and democratic state into a theocratic, kleptocratic one, in the language of political science. Today we are at a point... I have a picture before me...

Host: You're talking about the US, about religious logic controlling the US as a whole...

Hajjar: We are living in the age of Mulla...

Host: George Bush.

Hajjar: George Bush. I cannot find any scientific or cultural difference between their mentalities. They complement one another. The mind, the mindset, and mentality are the same. (The Americans) should be treated reciprocally. They reap what they sow. I don't accept for one moment the possibility that I will be killed and will turn the other cheek. We must fight, and must leave aside all these civil issues. This is the kind of thinking the Americans want. They want us to understand and sympathize with them. This concept of hegemony: You, the victim, accept the logic of the hangman. Why should I accept this? I am the victim, and I fight with any weapons at my disposal.

I hope that every patriotic and Islamic Arab will participate in this war, and will shift the war not only to America, but to all corners... wherever America may be. I am after the enemy everywhere, since he fights me everywhere. I'm not saying I support the killing of... ...the so-called "innocents." There are no innocent people. You are facing a country called Britain which has fought 132 wars, and has destroyed the world, along with America. I am telling you that America has fought 343 wars in 225 years.

America is the new Nazism. We must realize this. Saddam Hussein or no Saddam Hussein - He had a plan of national modernization, and of building a modern state, and this is what the US opposes. America doesn't care if it's Saddam Hussein or not. What matters to the US is preventing the Arab and Islamic nation from entering the modern era.

Am I the one who perpetrated crimes in Iraq? Did I occupy Iraq?

Host: According to your logic, if London's Mayor and George Galloway had been killed in the London bombings...

Hajjar: It's fine by me. That's what they call "collateral casualties." All the moral justifications about just and unjust wars justify this. I come from Columbia University, and what they taught me there was that "our war is a totalitarian war."
