Terror in London (11) - Lebanese Political Analyst Adib Farha: Imams Condemn Terror Attacks and at the Same Time Incite to Killing in the Mosques

The following are excerpts from an interview with Lebanese political analyst Adib Farha, which aired on Al-Jazeera TV on July 16, 2005.

Farha: The problem seems to be that we have two types of discourse: One for external consumption, and another for internal purposes. The leaders of the ethnic groups and the great imams condemn these terrorist operations. However, I have lived in an Arab Muslim country, which I shall not name, and there, in Friday sermons, you regularly hear the Imam calling to kill the enemies of Arabs and Muslims: "Kill them and take revenge upon them. Destroy their hopes and their lives," and so on. This is incitement. True, we do have enemies. But we should not ask God to take revenge upon them. This is not how you conduct political matters.
