In a December 16, 2022 Tehran Friday sermon aired on Channel 1 (Iran), Assembly of Experts member Ayatollah Ahmad Khatami said that the Iranian regime gives "the highest value" to women, and he commented on the anti-regime slogan "Women, life, freedom," saying that the "real freedom" is in the Islamic regime. Khatami elaborated that the freedom that America "entices" Iranians to talk about is actually slavery and that America wants women to be slaves and lose their identity. He also said that the anti-regime protestors actually want the "freedom to have obscenity." Ayatollah Ahmad Khatami: "The Islamic regime has given the highest value to women. Women, life, freedom -- the real freedom is here. The real freedom is found in the Islamic regime. What America entices you to write about is actually slavery, not freedom.

"America wants the woman to be a slave. It wants a woman that has lost her identity. America prefers a woman that has adopted the culture of slavery. The freedom that Americans talk about is slavery. It is only in the Islamic regime that women can live honorably and humanely. The [protestors] have slogans that are deceiving. It is clear that they want the freedom to be obscene."
